RaRa’s Artist of the Week: The Invisible

dave tom leo1

Song Recommended: ‘Monsters Waltz’

I found this awesome trio whilst roaming around on Eska’s Myspace a few months ago, then last week RaRa and Mitz journeyed down to see them play at Coronary Crumpage and YES I did die with excitement, they played such a wonderful set. This trio has probably written in my opinion the best song this year. Dave Okumu’s (genius musical maker in too many ways) vocals have you floating around endlessly in oceans. The production on this record has me kicking and screaming in anticipation for what’s yet to come, hopefully an Album, more gigs MORE DOPENESS!!!

Their single ‘Monsters Waltz’  OUT NOW on 7 inch and available to download from Itunes and other digital stores.

Mitz’ Artist of the Week: The Matthew Herbert Big Band

Matthew Herbert

Album Title: ‘There’s Me And There’s You’

Song Recommended: ‘One Life’

Rated: *****

Matthew Herbert. Remember this name because once you have bought and listened to this album, every time you hear or read his name your lips will curl into a smile of adoration completely unknowingly and it will stay there for a lengthy amount of time, because this man is simply brilliant. This politically charged musical genius has created an album that doesn’t just give you goose bumps and a bopping head, but also a set of thought provoking questions that you are left to quietly mull over, even once you’ve stopped listening to it. This being said one of the most important factors that ensures the success of this album is Eska Mtungwazi and her world-class vocal. She breathes life into the body of this album and Matthew couldn’t have chosen a better-suited artist for the mammoth task of delivering the important messages in his music. All in all this is an album that has forced itself upon me, I couldn’t be happier about that fact, and neither will you.

Little Dragon…how about wow?!

Album Title: Little Dragon

Song Recommended: ‘Twice’

Sweden is known for producing top quality musicians who aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of new music. Little Dragon are no exception. Their new album offers an eclectic mixture of vibes hovering around the many sub cultures they are influenced by. We hold them up with high respect because of their fresh approach to production. Yumiki Negarno the vocalist featured on the album is definitely one to watch out for as we think she will be destined for great things. She delivers some of the best new soul song writing and introduces a unique stylistic way of delivering her soul through her vocals. Definitely an album worth buying for your long lasting pleasure. Album Title: “Some People Have Real Problems”

Song Recommended: “Buttons”

It’s crazy, I remember listening to the garage mix of little man when I was 14 at the back of the 182 bus to and from school and remember how even 5,8 years later it still gets a rewind in the clubs and on radio stations all around London. Just when we thought that she was a forgotten voice she decided to come back with a vengeance. Check out Sia, with her new look, fresh album and radically colorful live set!.
